- Michael remained seated, letting the events of the last two days run through his mind. He had been so looking forward to coming home and had missed his wife terribly. Now so much unexpected stuff had happened, everything had become more complicated, and he hadn't the faintest idea how to handle the situation.
- After Sarah had showered, she went back to her room. It still smelled of the mold remover, but as long as she didn't have to sleep there, the smell was bearable. Natalie was already asleep, and Michael wondered whether he should talk to his daughter. But what could he possibly say to her? He desperately wanted to know if Natalie was right and if Sarah was truly in love with him. But how would he cope if his suspicions proved true? He decided to distract himself with gardening and spent the next two hours there. When he took a break, Sarah joined him and handed her father a glass of water. She didn't stay and immediately retreated into the house. Michael realized that Sarah was just as reluctant to talk to him as he was, and he accepted it.
- Around noon, he treated himself to a small microwave meal. Sarah had gone out with a friend, and Natalie hadn't yet left the bedroom. Exhausted from work, Michael went to the bathroom and once again regretted not having a bathtub. It would certainly have done his aching body good. He took off his sweaty clothes and stepped into the shower. With his eyes closed, he enjoyed the hot water on his skin. He didn't notice the bathroom door open and a naked woman slip inside. When the shower door opened, he opened his eyes wide and looked at Natalie, who stood grinning broadly before him, eager to be let in.
